What is Holotropic Breathwork?

Holotropic breathwork is a practice that involves controlling your breathing patterns to influence your psychological, emotional, and physical states. The framework for holistic breathwork integrates insights from psychedelic research, transpersonal psychology, and Eastern spirituality. It was originally developed by psychiatrists Stanislav and Christina Grof in the 1970s as a therapeutic tool, to achieve altered states of consciousness in a natural and drug-free way. 

Participants of holotropic breathwork have reported accessing emotions they otherwise would suppress. Others report experiencing feelings of euphoria, mental clarity, better decision-making, and a reduction in anxiety or depression. Some individuals with physical health problems have found it enhances their sleep and decreases inflammation—leading to increased energy, less tension, and reduced chronic pain.

What to Expect During Your Breathing Session

Unlike conventional breathwork, participants will be blindfolded and provided with noise-canceling headphones, allowing for a deeper focus on binaural beats, breath, and the instructor guiding them through the session. This enhances the experience by allowing you to go deeper into your inner world without distractions.

What is a Sound Bath?

Sound baths use different Hz levels to target a range of emotional responses stored in the body. During the sound bath experience, individuals are “bathed in sound,” such as chimes, singing bowls, chanting, and percussion. Sound baths are thought to stimulate brain waves that can reduce stress, anxiety, and chronic pain. 

The intention of a sound bath is to create a state of harmony in the energy fields of the listener. Individuals have reported feeling more relaxed, and with expanded self-awareness, increased emotional well-being, and access to inner visionary experiences.

What to Expect During Your Sound Bath Session

During the sound bath, participants will lie flat on their backs for the entire session, sometimes referred to as the Savasana position in yoga. The instructor will guide participants through a series of chants, mantras, or rolling oms. They may also utilize instruments such as chimes or singing bowls. 

After the sound bath ends, participants are recommended to transition slowly back to a seated position. We also suggest bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated after your experience.

What is Chakra Healing?

In Ayurveda, yoga, and meditation, the term “chakra” refers to the energy centers throughout the body. There are seven main chakras, starting from the base of the vertebrae up to the crown of the head. To visualize your chakras, imagine a wheel of energy in your body where the material world and consciousness meet. This invisible energy is called “Prana”, and is believed to be the life force that keeps us vibrant and healthy.

The seven chakras correspond with important nerve centers and primary organs. The theory behind chakra work is to keep them open and aligned so energy can flow freely. If there is a blockage or imbalance, it is believed this can lead to mental health problems and chronic disease.

After the onset of her own health challenges, Becca started her wellness journey, which soon became her deepest passion and life work. Her philosophy is centered around the idea that health and wellness are best addressed holistically—nourishing the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of ourselves. Drawing from a variety of modalities, she blends integrative medicine with intuition to meet individuals wherever they are in their healing journey. She is passionate about emotion-focused and trauma-informed bodywork and rehabilitative massage therapy.    

Becca graduated as a Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Holistic Health Practitioner from Healing Mountain Massage School, where she currently sits on the Advisory Board representing the school’s holistic programs. She is also a certified Reiki Master & Teacher and is trained in Advanced Integrative Therapies, including myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, structural integration, holistic nutrition, herbalism, and more. Becca is a lifelong learner and passionate about guiding her clients to the healthiest versions of themselves.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Currently, we only offer in-person sessions.

We have a monthly membership and unlimited class pass starting at $79. This provides unlimited access to Holotropic Breathwork and SoundBath classes. The membership also includes a 20% discount on other classes or workshops offered at Harper Clinic, as well as 15% off self-care services such as Reiki, Massage Therapy, and IV/IM Nutrient Sessions.

Our classes are small, with a limit of 12. This provides a more personalized experience and allows instructors to tailor classes to the unique emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs of each individual.

Yes, you can book 1-on-1 Chakra and Reiki healing classes with Becca or sound bath sessions with Nicole. Please give us a call for more information about private healing sessions.

Harper Clinic provides necessary materials for sessions, such as noise-canceling headphones, an eye mask, a yoga mat, and a head pillow. We suggest individuals bring a water bottle and a jacket or blanket if they would like. We also recommend arriving 5 minutes before your scheduled sessions, to check in and get comfortable.

No, after your session, you can safely operate a vehicle. You may feel a wide range of emotions during the session. However, your instructor will support you with grounding techniques to bring you back to reality and feel alert.
